2012 "Spring Classic of Champions"

This year we will again be using judge boats throughout the Chain. Anglers will be required to signal a judge boat and have their fish measured at boat side. Keep your fish in the net and that will eliminate the need to transport a fish. This will improve chances for a better release of the fish and it will allow you to fish all day. A boat side release and not taking fish out of the water does not constitute possession which will allow you to continue to fish throughout the day providing each fish is released successfully.
A Structured payout will be put into place based on a full field of 150 boats. Ten (10) places will be guaranteed. In the event the field is not filled a graduating scale will be used but ten (10) places will be paid. Here is an example of the payout:

In response to many requests for all contestants to have an equal chance for a starting position, all entries received prior to April 20 will be put into a container for a lottery-type drawing for a starting position. Entries received after April 20 will be assigned a starting position by order received.

The 31st Anniversary Headwaters Chapter of Muskies, Inc. Spring Classic of Champions was held on June 11th and 12th , 2011. There were 69 boats entered with 138 people fishing the tournament. The headquarters for the tournament was Wild Eagle Lodge with fishing limited to the Lower Eagle River Chain.

Fish Caught and Released: Saturday - 22; Sunday - 11. Total of 33 fish.
Lakes fish were caught in: Catfish 10, Yellow Birch 6, Duck 4, Cranberry 4, Eagle 3, Scattering Rice 2, Lynx 2, Otter 1, and Voyageur 1.
A special thank you to our judges for the tournament: Dale Peterson (Chairman of the Judge Boats), Jay Hollnagel, Joe Koschnik, Glenn Matula, Tim Muench, Bob Weeks, Tom White, and Todd Wiese. Thank you to all our volunteers who made the tournament run smoothly: Carol & Rick Janick, Courtney Froemming, Micki Koschnik, Michelle Peters, Elmer Jensen, Kip Kramer, Sandy & Bill Jacobs, Bob Jacobs, and all the directors who assisted with the tent raising.

The 3rd Anniversary Headwaters Chapter of Muskies, Inc. and Three Lakes Chamber of Commerce Fall Classic of Champions was held on October 1st and 2nd. There were 21 boats entered with 42 people fishing the tournament. The headquarters for the tournament was Northernaire Resort & Spa,
Three Lakes, with fishing on the Three Lakes Chain.
The results of the tournament are as follows:

Lakes fish were caught in: 2 on Dog Lake, 1 on Big Stone Lake, and 3 on Long Lake
The tournament headquarters was at Northernaire Resort & Spa. Coffee and donuts were served each morning at Anchor Marine. Sunday lunch was donated by the Three Lakes Chamber of Commerce, prepared by the Black Forest Pub & Grill. Sunset Grill and Pine Isle Sports Bar & Grill served as fish registration stations.
