    The 2009 "Spring Classic of Champions"

To meet the requirments of our changing times and to improve the tournament structure for our entry anglers; the 2009 Spring Classic has some new changes which I am sure you will be pleased with! The two biggest changes will be:

1) This year we will use judge boats throughout the Chain. Anglers will be required to signal a judge boat and have their fish measured at boat side. Keep your fish in the net and we will eliminate the transport of fish. This will insure a better release of our fish and it will allow you to fish all day. Based on the boat side release and not taking fish out of the water, will allow you to continue to fish throughout the day providing each fish released is successful.

2) A Structured payout will be put into place based on a full field of 150 boats. Ten (10) places will be guaranteed. In the event the field is not filled a graduating scale will be used but ten (10) places will be paid. Here is an example of the payout:

On Friday June 12th there will be a FISH FRY at BOONDOCKERS at Wild Eagle. A Grilled Haddock, Choice of Fries, Potato Pancakes, Potato Salad, or Cole Slaw, and Fresh Rye Bread. Fish Fry starts at 4:00 PM

Tournament Notes:

Total of 29 Muskies were caught and released. The lake breakdown is:  Eagle River 2, Eagle 4, Catfish 11, Duck 3, Cranberry 5, Voyageur 1, Scattering Rice 1, Otter 1, Yellow Birch 1.

The Headwaters Chapter and Tournament Director Jeff and Patti Miller along with Jim & Carol Heffner, Co-chairmen would like to thank all who participated in this year's Classic and the major sponsors.
